Chris Hewitt, CEO Berkeley PR International
Chris Hewitt founded Berkeley PR in 1988 with the aim of building a leading PR brand that is the industry benchmark for creative and proactive media relations.
As CEO, Chris leads Berkeley PR's senior management team running the company's main offices in Reading, Bristol, Derbyshire, London, and internationally through the 360 network of PR agencies. He also owns Ascent PR, the entrepreneurs' PR agency, also based in Reading.
"I am very proud that today we have a great PR agency that is ranked among the top in the country. Nowadays, I spend most of my time coaching and advising board level directors on how best to deal with the media and develop compelling messages for their business. As a PR strategist, it is gratifying to see how our clients prosper from what we do - after all, that is our role in life: to help drive up the prosperity of our clients.
My approach to work is informal, relaxed and fun. Life is far too short for work to be anything else, so when life gets stressful or serious I dream of sailing. Then I go and do it and come back refreshed."
Prior to setting up Berkeley PR, Chris worked as a director of A Plus for three years and as an account director at Harvard Marketing Services, also for three years. Before entering the PR industry, Chris was a reporter for an international news agency. Having started his working life as a sports journalist, he went on to become a contributor to a variety of consumer, trade and national newspapers on subjects as diverse as general news, golf, travel, tourism, business and technology.
